Certified Medical Emergency
The Company will postpone the discontinuation of the service to a residential customer, up to 30 days, if the customer presents a certificate from a physician stating that discontinuation of service will aggravate an existing medical emergency of the customer, a member of the customer's family, or other permanent resident of the premises where service is rendered. The contents of the certificate must identify the medical emergency, specify the effect of discontinuation of service, and specify the time during which discontinuation of service will aggravate the medical emergency. This certificate must be presented to the utility within 7 days. During the period that discontinuation of service is delayed, the residential customer shall be liable for all service rendered by the utility. The certificate forms are available through the business office.
